Stray animals in Turkey need urgent help!!!

Aid Project 187 – February 2025

Turkish stray animals have always had it tough, but since the introduction of the ‘Massacre Law’ on 31 July 2024, their situation has deteriorated dramatically.

This law has led to a massive ‘clean-up’ of the streets and rural areas, with gruesome images of dying animals and mass graves circulating on social media.

The cruelty these animals are subjected to is unspeakable, and the number of animal lives at stake is estimated at 7 million.

"Helping Stray Animals" has been supporting animals in need worldwide since 2009

Money management

We have an ING bank account where all funds are received.

Only the treasurer has access to this bank account, and she reports to the other board members as well as to the tax authorities.

Selection of requests for aid projects is done by the Secretary, who writes a proposal for the other board members to approve. Only if all board members agree, the aid project will be published on the website as 'Monthly Aid Project'.

Why 'Helping Stray Animals'?

We help stray animals that are constantly struggling. Fortunately, there are no more stray animals in the Netherlands, but in many countries there are still hundreds of thousands of strays.

How we work:

  • We only work with volunteers and have been doing so since 2009.
  • We are a hundred percent transparent.
  • Not only that, but we only have 2 to 3% general costs. (At many foundations, this is an average of 28%).
  • No salaries, no expensive lease cars.
  • No costs for expensive offices.
  • We don't have millions in the bank that should be spent on helping strays, but they aren't. (as is the case with various foundations).
  • Our foundation is located in the Netherlands and is one of the very few small-scale organisations that helps reliable animal helpers worldwide.
  • You can decide for yourself for which project your donation will be used.
  • Weekly publication of aid projects' donations received.
  • Visible reports of how donations have been used.
  • Official ANBI (tax office) quality recognition.
