Helping Stray Animals is a volunteer‑run foundation supporting rescuers who care for abandoned, injured, and vulnerable animals around the world. Since 2009, we have worked with trusted local partners to provide food, medical care, shelter, sterilisation programs, and emergency aid for animals that would otherwise receive no help. Our mission is simple: to strengthen the people who save lives every day.

We operate with complete transparency and zero overhead costs. Our team of five volunteers manages every project personally, ensuring that all support goes directly to the animals and the rescuers who protect them. No salaries, no offices, no administrative expenses — only practical, direct help where it is needed most.

On this website, you can explore recent aid projects, learn how we work, and meet the rescuers we support in countries such as Serbia, Romania, Indonesia, India, and many others. Each project is carefully selected and monitored, giving supporters clear insight into how their contribution makes a real difference.

By working closely with local volunteers and small shelters, we create sustainable solutions that improve animal welfare in the long term. Together, we give animals safety, dignity, and a second chance at life.

SEVERE STORMS IN SICILY!
URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED!

Helping stray kittens during the severe storms in Sicily

You can read and see it everywhere: Sicily has been hit by a hurricane with torrential rainfall. Coastal towns are flooded, public transport has come to a standstill, and evacuations have become necessary. It’s a very serious situation for all residents — and especially for the countless stray animals.

Vanessa and Leo’s shelter has also been severely affected. They are working tirelessly to help the many stray animals on the streets who have been caught in this disaster.

Every Life Counts!
Het asiel van Ioana en Bogdan

Ioana and Bogdan started by feeding stray animals in their area, and soon opened a small shelter that has now been running for nearly ten years.

They rescue dogs from the streets, from kill shelters, and from neglect. Ioana works behind the scenes, while Bogdan cares for the dogs every day.

Some of our unparalleled animal helpers abroad

Cerasela saves dogs
from certain death…

Donated: €8,240

For a long time, Cerasela Matei’s shelter was in need of renovation and expansion.

But it simply never happened. Whenever money came in, it was always urgently needed for other essential things.

Such as food, straw, flea and tick treatments, medication — and countless other necessities.

A stray‑animal clinic
on the Gili Islands.

Donated: €11,775

We had hoped to purchase a piece of land for a new clinic, but due to rapidly rising prices on Gili Air, there was no suitable or affordable option available.

That’s why we will continue working from our current rented building, which is centrally located, affordable, and efficient to use

Georgeta can’t take it anymore.

Donated: €7,185

The completion of Georgeta’s project took a bit more time than usual. Geta, as everyone calls her, doesn’t speak a word of English, so having a translator was often essential. She’s also not the easiest person to work or communicate with.

But… the first small successes have been achieved

We sell unique pet products, toys, snuffle mats, audio stories, and much more.
All proceeds go directly toward sterilisation projects.

In addition to emergency projects, we also support sterilisations for stray animals.

Our 8,000 to 10,000 operations per year are even the highest of all animal welfare organizations in Western Europe.

Donate especially for this!

View the list of sterilisation clinics we support.

Over the years, we have organised many special projects to make the sterilisation of stray animals possible.

Here are the clinics we support on a regular basis.

We are asking for donations to support local stray animal projects, through a monthly main project and two smaller projects, for sterilizations and education, as well as for EMERGENCY AID.

For urgent animal assistance, we have created an Emergency Aid Reserve Fund so that we can provide it quickly even if we receive urgent requests.
