What is the mission of our foundation?

We are a small team of dedicated volunteers who support animal rescuers in countries where stray animals suffer the most. Our goal is simple: to give a helping hand where the need is greatest.

Throughout the year, we run emergency aid projects on our website, in our newsletters, and on social media. We invite animal lovers to support these projects so rescuers can continue their lifesaving work.

The Netherlands is the only country in the world without stray dogs. That’s why we carefully look at which animals, in which countries, need help the most. As a result, we focus more on Eastern Europe and other crisis regions than on more prosperous countries like Spain.

Sadly, only a handful of foundations worldwide support small, local rescuers who care for 100 to 1,000 animals — even though these are often the people doing the hardest work with the fewest resources.

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, where there is almost no real animal emergency, we still have:

• A dedicated animal police force
• A national emergency number (144)
• Over 60 heavily subsidised animal shelters
• More than 150 animal ambulances — something unique in the world
• Large organisations with millions in the bank, but little support for animals abroad
• Several foundations that, by statute, only help animals within Dutch borders
• Numerous legacy funds worth millions that are also restricted to the Netherlands

This is why we chose a different path.

We want to help the stray animals who are truly in the worst conditions — wherever they are in the world.

We support rescuers in countries such as Romania, Ukraine, Greece, India, Bosnia, Serbia, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa, Bulgaria, and Moldova.

Yes, we have also supported projects in Spain and Portugal over the past 15 years, but our focus has shifted to places where the suffering is far greater.

We also invest more and more in sterilization projects, because that is the only long‑term solution to the stray animal crisis. Each year, we enable 10,000 to 15,000 sterilizations for dogs and cats — the highest number of any animal foundation in Western Europe.

We have no office and no paid staff. We work from our own homes, without lease cars or unnecessary overhead. We believe a foundation should support the cause — not itself.

We hope this gives you a clear picture of who we are and what we stand for.
