Sasha Update – February 2026
Hello dear friends,
Here are a few new photos showing the progress on the construction of the shelter. Your incredible donations are being used for the indoor fencing, two containers, and—hopefully soon—a septic system and rainwater collection. There is still more to come. Every euro must be carefully weighed, while at the same time hundreds of dogs need food, water and daily care. It is not easy.
But once again: 10,000 times THANK YOU for your amazing support and for making such a difference in the lives of so many dogs.
This update comes a little late. The past weeks have been difficult — a mix of bad weather, snow and ice, rain, and shortages of materials has caused delays. Sometimes progress is slower than we hope, but step by step the shelter continues to grow.
What has already been achieved:
- A large main entrance with a solid gate.
- Above it, a custom-built insulated storage room to safely protect the water pump and generator. This was only possible thanks to your support — combined with an anonymous donation.
- A second-hand insulated container to store dog food safely.
- Once the indoor fencing is installed, more containers will be needed. We also want to thank Stichting Dierennood for their help and support with this.
- One of the biggest remaining costs is completing and installing 100 night kennels. We were able to secure an interest‑free loan for this, but it must be repaid before the end of 2026.
- There is still no electricity on site. Solar panels may one day be a solution, but we are not there yet.
- In short: we still need indoor fencing, a septic system and rainwater collection.
We are deeply grateful that we can continue this project little by little. We all dream of the day the dogs can finally move in — safe, dry, and able to rest in a protected place. But there is still much work ahead.
Above all: THANK YOU for being here.
Warm greetings,
